Garvey and Edwin's Lessons - E Block
Garvey and Edwin explained that many events on the island would teach Cole something about himself. Of the various lessons that Cole learned, (through the soaking pool, ancestor rock, totem pole, animal sightings, and nightly dances) which do you think were the most significant to Cole changing? Justify your response with evidence from the text. Please use proper spelling and grammar. No text speak.

On my perspective cole's change was due to the animals. The whales, birds, bear, and wolfes.
I think the animals maded Cole change the most, reashon is that he learned more frome the animals than anything else. Example with the whale "They migrate but they dont have a home" and thats just like Cole feels about everything
William, why do you think the animals had such a big impact on Cole?
William justify youre answer
I think that the most important thing to Cole so far was when he was soaking in the pool. Whenever he would do this he would forget about everything. He would ge calm for a period of time. Ithink that woas the most signoficant to cole
Jose, do you think there was a specific animal that Cole learned the most from?
I think that the animals were agreat lesson for him.
-KARLLA-
I think that circle justice helped Cole alot in his change.Cause the animals showed a different point of view of life.
i think there is 3 that are most significant to Cole changing and it's mostly the totem pole that Cole has been carving, soeking pool, and the ancestor rock that lets him roll down his anger. But the most significant lesson is the totem pole which is like telling his life in the island!:)
yea ms sullivian the WHALE thats why i wrote about the whale. Naw mean
ooohhhh yeaaah i agree with jose but not that mush really.
I think that the beaver was the most significant to Cole since he learned how to be invisible to other animals from the beaver
Gabe, how important was it for Cole to feel calm?
I think the eagle had a big impact on Cole because thought him how to stay strong and proud!
Ohh Yeahh! i agree with jose and shaston ;)
-KARLLA-
Karlla, why were the animals so important for Cole?
I think the animals that Cole did the dances for taught him something. For example: the Wolf dance taught him in order to help himself, he must first help others.
Thank you Shaston (:
Well jose and Mrs. Sullivan, for examples the wolfes hang in a pack, and cole learned how to hang with edwin and garvey - SITUATION OUT
I THINK THE MOST SIGNIFICANT WAS THE NIGHTLY DANCE TO COLE BECAUSE HE LET HIS ANGER OUT AND HE LEARN STUFF ABOUT THE DANCE CAUSE OF THE ANIMALS AND HE COMPARE IT TO HIS LIFE.
i think the most significant one to cole changing was the nightly dances because he got a chance to express his feelings and tell what he had learned about the animals that he saw.
i think soaking in the pond was the most signifigant cole changing
because it calmed him down and made him forget about the things going on for a little while. and it made him realize that he needed to change
Richard it the question ask what events NOT! talk about circle justis
Richard, I didn't ask if Circle Justice made a change, but what events on the island helped change Cole. Why do you think the animals were so significant?
Being calm was important to cole since he wanted to interact with the animals
They were important because they tought him things that he didnt even know about him self and things that poeple have been treying to teach him for a while
-KARLLA-
ohh yeahh
the most significant thing that help cole change was the soakin beacuse when he was soaking cole became less angery made him morer peacful and calm when he did not soak he became more angery.
the most significant thing that help cole change was the soakin beacuse when he was soaking cole became less angery made him morer peacful and calm when he did not soak he became more angery.
Shaston, why is it so important for Cole to be able to tell his life through the totem pole? How does that help him to change?
ohh yeahh i agree with Gabriel
-KARLLA-
GAbe what do you mean Being calm help him, Thats erelevent
GAbe what do you mean Being calm help him, Thats erelevent
We had a SITUATION in the island because cole fought a bear, but when he got back he understoud not to do any mistakes in his life
no problem jose!:)
i think that the nighlty dances that Cole had done with himself and with Garvey and Edwin helped a lot and made him understand animals
Also, in addition to the animal dances, Cole was helped, a Paul said by the soaks, wich helped him focus on the good side of the day.
i think that william is right, every animal that passes through out Coles life gives him a meaning of something.
Shaston, do you or don't you agree with Jose? Which is it? Explain why you do or don't, please.
I think the most significant change in cole was the nightly dances. they helped him heal and taught him lessons. the most important dance for Cole was the anger dance. the anger dance helped him forgive and change.
i agree with you paul i thik soaking does help coal
miss. sullivan i think the animal have a significance cause with the animals cole actually started carring about something e.g the sparrows.
It isn't eirrelivent since Cole learned He could also be calm
I also think friendship was also a problem in cole life. Because in the island Garvey and Edwin wanted to leave cole alone, by himself
Richard MORE deatails thats not enough
Nancy, I think you're right that the nightly dances were important to Cole. Can you explain a little more clearly about how they taught him about his own life, and why that was an important lesson for him?
I agree with you william the the animals do help cloe teach him a lesson and make him change
Hey Richard, why do you think that every animal that past to coles life had a meaning.
Tanairy, why do you think it was important for Cole to express his feelings? How did that help him?
the ONE nightly dance that Cole had done that really made him Change was the anger dance
i think that the dances that he did thought the story realy helped him think and learn some other things tooo
I think the event that thought Cole about himself was the nightly dances. This made cole change because he could reflect on the animals he saw and reflect on his own feelings.
I agree with William that friendship was a problem in Cole life.
I agree with Allen that the dances toght him something like the wolf think. From most animals he saw or had an expirence with he learned something from and that sorta changed his life. Going to the island helped him alot in life and so did the animals and Edwin and Garvey
I think that the animals taught Cole a lot. Such as when he saw the eagles, the eagles taught him how to be strong.
- Viictoria W. -
I agree with Gabriel when he said that "Being calm was important to cole since he wanted to interact with the animals." =]
William, what impact do you think being left along had on Cole? Was it helpful or not for Garvey and Edwin to leave Cole completely alone?
explain more about the freindship
william
Hey Douglas, what do you think was cole's biggest mistake that he made in the island.
I agree with Allen too that the dances taught cole a lot of things. not just the animal sightings.
-Viictoria W. -
Again, Gabe, explain why it was important for Cole to interact with the animals. Why did he need to?
Shaston why did the anger dance change cole.
i agree with william. Friendship was bg issue in his life so that made things hard. He was a bad child but now he is changed and he cares about people and he knows that he needs to help people and help himself.
I agree with nancy that the anger dance played a big part on cole because he actually opened up and let everything out and I think that the more cole keeps on doing the anger dance the more is going to be easier for him to forget, forgive and let go.
I agree with Nancy about the night dance but I think the soaking in the pool is, too.
Karlla, do you think there was a specific animal that taught him the most? Which one had the biggest impact on him?
Drew tell me why you agree with willianm
shaston do you agree with me or no iam getting worried :{
I agree with Karlla :)
the animals help cole because they thought him to control his anger. he also realize that he is not in charge of everything. the animal that showed him that was the spirit bear. the animal are good for him because he always learn something new.
Cole needed to interact with animals because he want to learn more about himself
i think that the most changing event that happened for cole was the dances and it was a way to express his feelings and the anger that he had inside him. also i think the eagles taught cole to be strong.
omari i agree with you the soaking does help
Well mrs. sullivan, i think Garvey and Edwin left cole in the island because he had to learn his lesson.
I guess the animal that tought him more was the wolf because if it wasent for it he wouldnt except that he needs help and he needs to halp others in order to change
When Cole was on the island doing all the events that Garvey and Edwin taught him. I think that the event that helped him change the most is when he saw the animals and had his nightly dances of them. Each animal dance taught him a lesson about how he can change and is a way he expresses himself, "They migrate but they dont have a home", he is saying he doesn't feel like he has a home, and the wolf taught that he should help others, along with helping himself. The sparrows made him more sensitive to the world, he thought about someone other then himself at the time.
I agree with Kristin :)
-Viictoria W.-
The most significant lesson to Cole's changing i think was when saw the wolf alone like he was. "He found himself crouching like a wolf". He didnt have alot of strenght still on him, and the wolf didn't either, the wolf was away from the wolf pack, and Cole was away from the people that use to be around him, that's one of the lessons that i thought it was significant to him, i think that's one of the most important lessons that helped him change.
Jose, I don't think it's irrelevant that Cole becomes calm. Think about what happens when Cole and others around him when he's not calm.
Omari why do you agree with Nancy ...>?
I agree with Rinat
I agree with William about the learning the lesson on the island thing, good perspective :)
-Viictoria W.-
JOSE , you sure ask alot of question, why do you think so ?
PEOPLE DONT JUST AGREE WITH SOMEONE GIVE DETAILS WHY YOU AGREE WITH THEM!
i agree w/ YGOR
i agree with rinat also
i agree with you Jose because when he made interactions with animals he had compared himself to the animal like the whale that you said, Jose whales migrate but dont have a home thats how cole feels
Omari and Victoria, you need to fully explain your opinions and back them up with examples from the text. It's not enough just to say "I agree".
jose you agree with poeple and you dont give details so i wouldnt be talking. i guess sometimes its just hard to give aspicific reasons why you agree with some one =]
-KARLLA-
ohhh meu deus, jose you are very interesting in this
yeah weilliam the i think the biggest mistake in the island was him buring his house
i agree with Rinat
i agree with Rinat
i think that the spirit bear made a huge impact in coles life because when cole was fighting for his life he did not notice that the only thing that the spirit bear was doing was protecting him self from cole.
And at the secound time that the spirit bear came clouse to cole,
cole was able to toch him that was when i think that the spirit bear teached cole to be calm.
Jose i agree with you poeple should explane more.
The sparrows taught him to care.
The Whales helped him see himself.
The wolves taught him to help to be helped.
The eagles taught him to be strong and proud.
The spirit bear taught him that violent things can be peaceful.
The sparrows taught him to care.
The Whales helped him see himself.
The wolves taught him to help to be helped.
The eagles taught him to be strong and proud.
The spirit bear taught him that violent things can be peaceful.
HAyyy! william ive ask alot of question because iam trying to figure out what people thing and see the different prespictive Broe
Okay, I agree with William about Cole staying on the island for learning his lesson. I agree with it because he has did some bad things like for example what he did to Peter.
-Viictoria W.-
I agree with Nancy because I think she's right.
read over the comment buddy!!!
i did and i know what i wrote
i AGREE with douglas, cole made some very stupid desicouns in the island.
Allen i thougt the whale taught him that it is alone like cole
Who finished the book already?
-Viictoria W.-
OHHH ok jose i just wanted to know, please dont get mad at me
I finished the book
im in chapter 15..
I didnt =(
I hope I dont fail...
i finished the book victoria
im in chapter 22 going in to 23
ooohh yeahhhh
Allen, all you did was list a bunch of examples of the aminal sightings; what had the most signifagence??
i agreee with allen
Victoria thats Erelevent..
I agree with Allen! :)
Luis, I Was just summing that up
Jose, what does Erelevent mean?
-Viictoria W.-
i finish book. Ending is not what i expected:(
what does who finished the book have to do with anything
well ms sullivan, I think it was important for cole to express his feelings because if he keeps having that kind of presssure on him, he's never going to learn how to forgive and let go. Also if he keeps those bad feelings inside of him, more anger is going to built up and the harder is going to be for him.
did you finish the book victoria?
It means OFF topic.. asking people who finish the book is erevelevnt
I agree with Allen about the lessons of the animals
argghh
whyyyyyy again we have to log offf =( ?!!!!!
